He is a National Award–winning music director, receiving honours for Best Music Direction (Songs) and Best Background Score at the 64th National Film Awards (2016).

Born in Harihar, Karnataka, Bapu’s musical journey began with a simple village flute, gradually unfolding into a lifelong pursuit of sound, silence, and inner expression. He trained under Pt. Hariprasad Chaurasia at the Brindavan Gurukul, Mumbai, and later received the Pannadevi Music Scholarship in recognition of his artistic promise.

His work spans classical ragas, healing and meditation music, devotional chanting, and film scoring. With over 46 albums released, his music is widely heard among spiritual seekers, yoga practitioners, and lovers of Indian classical traditions worldwide.

Bapu has composed music for acclaimed Kannada films, performed extensively in India and abroad, and collaborated with artists across cultures. He is also the founder of Aantardhwani – Sound and Emotions, through which he shares the wisdom of ancient sound traditions in a contemporary context.

Rooted in tradition yet open to exploration, Bapu Padmanabha continues to offer music as a path of reflection, devotion, and inner harmony.
