Vidushi R.A. Ramamani is a prominent Carnatic musician, from Bangalore. Being born into a family of musicians, her vocal training started at the age of 5. Her initial training was with Srinivas Ramachandra Rao. To improvise her knowledge in music, she trained under M Seshagiri Achar. She also learnt from Anoor S Ramakrishna, R.K.Srikantan and Palghat K.V.Narayaswamy. Her husband Mridangam Maestro T.A.S.Mani, honed her skills in music and percussion. Vid. Ramamani is one of the talented artists, with excellent control of rhythm. Her music performances have captivated several audiences in India and abroad. She specialises in "Avadhana Pallavi", where she can sing 2 rhythmic patterns at a time. She is a "TOP A" grade artist in All India Radio and has performed many programs for Doordarshan and AIR. As a member of "Tala Tarangini", she has performed alongside the ensembles across the world. Several prestigious Sabhas and music festivals embrace her presence. Vid. Ramamani's contribution to music has earned her several awards and accolades. She has won several national and international level competitions. She is the recipient of several prestigious awards, "Ganakalabhushana & Ganakalashri", "Layakala Nipuna", "Kalabhushana Kalajyothi", "Kempegowda Prashasti" to name a few. Vid. Ramamani is well known for her innovation in music. She uses Carnatic music along with Jazz and other western music. She is the first musician to have taken Carnatic music to play alongside international music groups. Her works with fusion music are notable and well received among music enthusiasts. She has given several lectures and demonstrations on music worldwide. She teaches Carnatic music in her unique way and has raised her students to a different level.
