About
Priti Srikanth is a proud owner of the farm "Vanashree", in Bangalore. She, alongside with her husband Srikanth, created a bio-diverse and eco-sustainable farm.
The eight-acre farm has close to 160 types of trees like Mango, Sapota, Coconut, Timber, Jamun, Banyan etc,. Trees like melingtonia, Barbados cherry, sandalwood, wood apple, Ashoka, cashew, red sanders are also grown. The trees are grown with enough space to receive sunlight and nutrients. The mini-forest is now a home for 70 varieties of birds and 20 types of butterflies. Apart from the trees, essential vegetables and cereals are also grown in an organic way. Tomatoes, brinjal, lady’s finger, radish and chillies are few of the vegetables grown. Pulses like Bengal gram, Ragi, Paddy, Maize are also grown in the land.
The farm also rears livestock and poultry, producing cage-free eggs and fresh milk. Bee-keeping is also one of their initiatives to maintain the eco-system. The farm uses vermicomposting techniques to generate manure for all the plants.
Once a barren land, is now converted into a eye treating farm with self sustainable methods. Thanks to Priti and Srikanth for their efforts and their contribution to ecology.
