Smt. Jayashree Varadarajan is the founder of Sri Rama Lalitha Kala Mandir School of Fine Arts. She is a dedicated teacher with an extensive background in music. She started her initial training in Carnatic vocal music from her mother Smt. Ramamani Iyengar at the age of five. Then she came under the expert tutelage of her maternal aunt, Smt. G V Raganayakamma. She has also received a thamboora from Dr. Semmangudi Srinivasa Iyer. She got this for obtaining First Prize in Raga, Tana, and Pallavi singing competition. She is the recipient of the Artist's Fellowship Award. She got this from the California Arts Council for her excellence in music. She has written two musical plays “Gagana Padma” and “ ”Subhadrarjuna” in Kannada. She has also published books “Lessons in Vocal Music” in four volumes. She has many compositions in Sanskrit, Tamil, and Kannada to her credit. Jayashree is also a Bharatanatyam dancer and holds a senior degree in Bharatanatyam. She has senior degrees in veena (1975) and Sanskrit (1968), as well as a diploma in Drama and Theatre (1969). She is well known in the Indian American community as a multi-talented artist. She has written, directed, and produced many music, dance, and operatic productions
