Shree Guruguha Sangeetha Mahavidyalaya, with the noble aim of imparting and disseminating Karnatic classical music, made a humble beginning on the day of Vijayadashami, Oct 1976 under the name Shree Guruguha Sangeetha Patashaala. With the support of generous citizens of Shimoga city, this patashala has grown into Sree Guruguha Sangeetha Mahavidyalaya - a full fledged institution securing a great deal of recognition. Music education is imparted at all levels ranging from basic to advanced, intricate aspects of music. Over 5000 students have been trained in a unique traditional style. With the noble intention of making music available to public and encouraged by the co-operation of kind-hearted music lovers of Shivamogga, it was decided to start a music school in this town. It has spread its branches extensively in Bangalore, Mysore, Davanagere, Thirthahalli , Sagar and Hyderabad.
