PERCUSSIVE ARTS CENTRE was founded by Ghatam Vidwan Late Sangeetha Kalarathna Bangalore K. Venkataram on the Vijayadasami day in 1981 as Palghat Mani Iyer Memorial Arts Centre and was registered in August 1985 as Percussive Arts Centre (Palghat Mani Iyer Memorial Arts Centre) with a perspective of promoting better awareness of percussive arts among music lovers. The activities of the Arts Centre include organizing annually: ‘Thalavadyotsav’ – the percussive arts festival and music conference ‘Krishnothsava’– youth festival ‘Siri Chiguru’ – children’s festival National Seminar on Percussions Besides this the Arts Centre – organizes monthly music concerts, has brought out numerous publications on various aspects of percussions and is regularly doing video documentation of great artistes. Mr. M.R. Doraiswamy Iyengar, well-known chartered accountant, is the President of Percussive Arts Centre. Dr. A.H. Rama Rao, well-known philanthropist, President, National Education Society, is the Patron-in-Chief. Dr. V. Krishna, son of Vidwan Bangalore K. Venkataram, is the Executive Director.
