About
TM Krishna (Thodur Madabusi Krishna) is a Carnatic music vocalist, teacher, author, public intellectual and activist. He is born in Chennai on January 22, 1976. He started his career by debuting at the age of 12 at the Spirit of Youth series in Music Academy Chennai. He has since performed at various festivals and venues across the world. Krishna speaks and writes about issues affecting the human condition and culture. He has published his articles in most leading print and online publications. He is the driving force behind the Urur-Olcott Kuppam Festival. Krishna received the prestigious Ramon Magsaysay Award in 2016. He received the Indira Gandhi Award for National Integration Award. He has received the Professor V Aravindakshan Memorial Award. Krishna began his musical training under Bhagavathula Seetharama Sharma. He later underwent special Ragam Thanam Pallavi grooming under Chingleput Ranganathanand then came under the guidance of Semmangudi Srinivasa Iyer from 1996. He also speaks in various conferences and academic institutions.
