Gayathri Girish is an eminent Carnatic vocalist. She was a disciple of Vaigal Gnanaskandan and T. N. Seshagopalan. She gave her first concert as a child artist in 1986. She won the Kalaimamani award given by the Tamil Nadu government in 2009. Sri Vaigai Gnanaskandan of the Semmangudi school trained her. Sri Madurai T.N. Seshagopalan also trained her. She has a wide repertoire which includes compositions of the Trinity, Purandaradasa devarnamas, Divya prabandham and compositions of Muthiah Bhagavathar, Papanasam Sivan, Bharathiyar etc. She has also learnt Violin from Lalgudi Jayaraman and T. Rukmini. She is A graded artiste of all India Radio. She has given many performances including lec-Dems and Jugalbandhi concerts with Hindustani musicians at leading sabhas in India and Abroad. She is the recipient of many awards including the Kalaimamani from TN government, Isai peroli from Karthik Fine arts and Yuva Kala Bharathi from Bharat Kalachar.
