Tiruvarur Vaidyanathan a mridangam artist born May 11, 1963 in Tiruvarur. His family is full of mridangam artists. He is well regarded worldwide. He has received many awards and has been to over 20 countries to play in concerts. Sri Vaidyanathan is a mridanga vidwan. He has established himself with a unique identity in the field of Carnatic music. As an amateur, he was under the tutelage of his grandfather, Tiruvarur Sri Kunju Iyer and his uncle Tiruvarur Sri Nagarajan. Unceasing musical ambience, traditional paadanthram, meticulous training, disciplined practice and the never-ending urge to excel all set up the ascent of Sri Vaidyanathan on to the pedestals of glory. As a student with immense potential and great appetite for knowledge, he had the privilege of getting advanced training under legendary mridangam maestro Guru Sri Kaaraikudi Mani. Across generations, he has embellished the concerts of many stalwarts and famous musicians.
