About
Smt. Sumitra Nitin has a performing career spanning three decades in both art forms - Carnatic Vocal and Bharatnatyam. She is the grand-daughter and disciple of the famous musician Smt. Ananthalakshmi Sadagopan. In dance, Sumitra has undergone extensive training in the Vazhuvoor style under Guru Smt. Rhadha, and in music she was under the expert guidance of Guru Smt. Neela Ramgopal. An articulate speaker, Sumitra is also known for her well-researched thematic multimedia presentations. Sumitra was awarded the Vedavalli Memorial Heritage Award by the Ramu Endowments Chennai, for her outstanding contribution to South India's heritage.
Natyasruti, the music and dance school founded by Smt Sumitra Nitin over two decades ago in Koramangala, imparts training to young students in both art forms. Natyasruti students have given full-fledged vocal music and dance performances in prestigious forums, besides excelling in the exams conducted by the Karnataka Government.
