Sumeet was born into an illus­trious musical family, Dhrupad trad­ition of Darbhanga Gharana. Maternal Grandson of legendary PadmaShree Late Pt Siyaram Tiwari and great-grandson of music genius Bihar Ratna Late Pt Ram Prasad Pandey, Sumeet started learn­ing Indian clas­sical music at a tender age from his grand­father, Sh. Birendra Mohan Pandey and went on to complete San­geet Prabhakar (B.A) and San­geet Visharad (M.A.). Since 2008, Sumeet is learn­ing Dhrupad as per Guru-Shishya trad­ition from living legend, Dhrupad Maestro, Pt Abhay Narayan Mallick. Sumeet is fast emerging as a promising young talent in Dhrupad. Besides being a per­former, he is a methodical tea­cher also.
