She did her Diploma & Post Diploma in Kathak from Delhi Kathak Kendra and Prabhakar from Prayag Sangeet Samitee , Allahabad in 2008 and was awarded five years consecutive scholarship in Kathak during her course period (Diploma & Post Diploma) from Kathak Kendra ,New Delhi, India. . Sulagna has come a long way since she took her first faltering dance steps in her home town Malda, a laid back town in West Bengal. She will go much further on the twin wheels of her talent and dedication. And she will never walk along this path. God willing, she will dance her way to the top. She has performed on many stages including Nalanda Dance Festival, National Youth Festival. Her formal training started at the tender age of eight and when she showed promise it was decided that the Kathak Kendra at Delhi would be the perfect place to hone her talent. Guru Shri Pdt. Jaikishan Maharaj took her in hand and polished her skills until the rough diamond turned into a magnificent gem. Kathak is basically the art of telling a story with expressions and movements. The abstract beauty of Sulagna's dance carries us along in flights of fancy even while her extremely mobile facial expressions never allow us to lose the thread of the tale she tells so wonderfully. No wonder then that she has been applauded both in India and abroad.
