About
Shama Krishna, hailing from Bangalore is one of the foremost performing artists of classical dance in India. Shama began training in Bharathanatyam at the age of seven from Guru Kalamanadalam Smt. Usha Datar. She completed her Proficiency level examination in Bharathnatyam. She has also had the privilege of training under the expertise of Guru Smt Narmada and Guru Bhanumati. She is currently studying Masters in Fine Arts from Sastra University, Tanjore. Shama is a well known Kuchipudi performer trained by Karnataka Kalashree Guru Smt. Veena Murthy Vijay. Her interest to learn the multiple facets of Indian classical dance led her to learn Kuchipudi, a dance style which originated in Andhra Pradesh. With the guidance of her Guru she has recieved additional insight and training in Kuchipudi by traditional Gurus such as Raja Reddy, Vedantam Venkatanaga Chalapathi, Pasumarti Rathiah Sharma and Vedantam Radhe Shyam. Shama has been critically acclaimed and appreciated by dance lovers for her performance of “Bhamakalapam”, which is one of the most popular features of Kuchipudi.
