About
Shailendra Janardan is one of the leading violinists of India of his generation in the field of Hindustani classical music. He had his initial training in gayaki style under renowned vocalist Shri Nalin Dholakiya. Later he developed technical aspects under the tutelage from "violin-Samrat" Shri M.S. Gopalakrishnan and tantrakari ang from Shri Bimelendu Mukherjee-an eminent exponent of Imdadkhani gharana. At the young age, he won several prizes and appreciation for outstanding contribution in the field of music. He won first prize in the All India Radio Music competition at the age of seventeen. He was selected for the scholarship of young artists in the field of classical music by the Ministry of Culture and Education. Besides having graduation in "ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING" Shailendra got his Bachelor's Degree in instrumental music (Tabla & Violin). He has superb control over his instrument and his style is a unique and innovative blending of intricate Gayaki Ang and Tantra Ang i.e.Baj of the sitar.
