M. T. Selvanarayana is a renowned Carnatic musician and a teacher, in the circle of music. He is a passionate teacher and has taught Carnatic music for several of his students. Most of the disciples have attained to great heights in the field of music, say, Amrutha Venkatesh, to name a few. In 2011, he was the recipient of "Ananya Pushkara" for his exemplary service to the field of music.
