Pt. Rajeev Janardan is an exponent of Hindustani Classical Music and recognised as one of the greatest Sitar & Surbahar players of his generation. Initiated into the hallowed realms of Hindustani Classical Music at the tender age of eight, he blossomed into a true artist under the valuable guidance of his gurus, Pandit Bimlendu Mukherjee and Pandit Arvind Parikh, both are doyens of the famous Imdad Khani Gharana (Musical tradition) of Sitar. Brought up in an atmosphere of music and the love of melody and rhythm, he is one of those gifted artists to whom the divine tunes descend from a very young age. He spent many years learning the sitar under his guru’s able tutelage. He is also pursued his Master Degree in Arts (Psychology) and come out in flying colours. Today, Rajeev is a proud torch bearer of the Imdadkhani Etawah Gharana and following the legacy of the greats of Indian classical music. A charismatic leading sitar artiste of the present generation, his renditions represents the pure essence of a revered musical heritage. These were results of his devotion to and his unflinching faith in his guru. His depth of musical knowledge and skill has brought forth his own compositions. He is known for his musical renderings where he blends the traditional tunes with his innovative compositions.
