About
Preethi Bharadwaj is a freelance Bharatanatyam and Indian Contemporary dancer based in Bangalore. A student of Guru B. Bhanumati and Guru Sheela Chandrashekar, she began her journey at the school ‘Nrityakalamandiram’ at the age of 7. In addition to her rigorous training in Bharatanatyam, Preethi has trained in Carnatic music, Nattuvangam, Contemporary Dance, martial arts and body conditioning.
A talented actress, Preethi has collaborated with theatre productions, short films and feature film projects as well.
A well known face in the field of classical dance, Preethi is also a teacher and choreographer and a principle soloist in the Bharatanjali and Punyah dance companies, and has contributed greatly to the rising popularity of Bharatanatyam in India today.
She has performed extensively in India, contributing to the rising popularity of Bharatanatyam, at Bits Pilani, Chinmaya Naada Bindu (Pune), NH7 Weekender, the LshVa Festival and at the Indian Habitat Centre (Delhi) and overseas at the Can-Asian Dance Festival (Toronto), Bali International Dance Festival (Indonesia), and The Sabha (Kuwait).A choreographer herself, with experience in contemporary dance, martial arts and theatre in addition to Bharatanatyam, Preethi creates new works on her own as well as in collaboration with artists from around India and the world.
