About
Lalgudi Rajalakshmi is a prominent Violin Vidhushi. She is born into a musical family, that hails as Sishya Parampara of Saint Thyagaraja. Interest in Violin came as a natural talent to her, as most of her family members are famous Violinists. She had her initial training from her father, the legendary Shri. Lalgudi Gopala Iyer. She continued to learn the instrument from her elder brother, Lalgudi Jayaraman. At the age of 10, she had her first concert and soon earned positive reviews from critics and audiences. She has performed along with her brother, sisters Srimathi Brahmanandam and Vid. Padmavathi Anathagopalan in many concerts. Rajalakshmi has taken her Solo performance to many international festivals abroad. During her tenure as AIR staff, she has produced several music programmes for AIR and Doordarshan. As a creative composer, she has composed tunes for Bharati and Vadiraja poets. Apart from Carnatic music, she has rendered her tunes for international ballet programmes. Vid. Rajalakshmi is the recipient of many prestigious awards and titles. Kala Jyothi, Sangeetha Bhushana, Swarabhushani, Pappa Venkatramaiah award are the few to mention. Rajalakshmi has a high regard among her students, for the way of her teaching. She has trained several violinists who have risen to fame and gives concerts all over the world. Her inspiration to teach is so contagious, that many of her students are teaching Violin abroad. She also conducts several summer workshops in America and other countries.
