Vidwan G S Nagaraj is a popular Kanjira performer, from Bangalore. He started his Mridangam training from the age of 10 under the tutelage of Vid. Sri H L Gopalkrishna. Nagaraj went on for advanced training under his guru(s) Vid. Sri B N Chandramouli and Vid. Sri Tiruvarur Bhaktavatsalam . Since then, he started giving performances receiving several appreciations and great critics. Nagaraj's Mridangam performance goes well with the rhythms of classical dancing. For that reason, he is the most sought after Mridangam performer for dance programs.He is also well versed in playing Kanjira. Nagaraj is an "A" grade artist in All India Radio(AIR). He has performed for Doordarshan, AIR, several music festivals and Sabhas in India. He heads a group "Laya Ranjani", which encourages all the artists in the group to perform all over India. The group specialises in creating a thematic ensembles for each of their performance.
