Dr. Smt Suparna Ravishankar is one of the leading accomplished Veena (a string instrument, played based on Carnatic Classical Music) Artist and an equally talented Bharatanatyam (an Indian Classical dance form) Dancer. Dr. Suparna was initiated to classical art by her father Sangeeth Vidwan Sri. Mattur S Ramamurthy and has acquired higher training under the guidance of gurus Vidwan Sri. C. Krishnamurthy and Vidwan Sri. R.K. Suryanarayan, the great maestros in Veena. She has been the Gold Medalist both during her graduation and post graduation, awarded by Bangalore University. Her Research Studies in "Techniques of Veena Playing" has provided her Doctorate Degree in Music awarded by Bangalore University. She has a proficiency degree in Veena from Karnataka State Education Board. She has been the recipient of Fellowship from Government of India, which is awarded to the outstanding artists in the field. In addition to the concerts at different sabhas, temples and other programmes, her other varieties of experimental presentations of music concerts such as Panchaveena, Dwandwa Veena, Veena-Sitar Duet, Veena-Violin Duets, Veena-Violin-Venu Trios, Indian Classical and Western Classical Fusion music are being well appreciated by musicians, publics and press critics.
