Shri Debasish Adhikary was born in a musical family from where he could explore the world of music. He is a child prodigy who started playing the Tabla at the age of 6. Debasish’s teacher was his father Pdt Anandamohan Adhikary, a senior disciple of Ustad Karamat Ullah Khan of Farukhabad Gharana. Later he obtained training from Ustad Sabir Khan, son of Ustad Karamat Ullah Khan with great devotion & sincerity. Debasish is a brilliant light of the world of Tabla. As a performer, he creates an experience for his audience that, ranges from the introspective to resounding. A performer par excellence. He has performed at major music festivals in India & abroad like All India Music Festival at Allahabad, Kal-Ke-Kalakar Sangeet Sammelan at Mumbai, ICCR Music Festival at Delhi, HCL Music Concert at Delhi, India International Centre at Delhi, Governor House of Uttaranchal at Dehradun, Sahitya Kala Parishad at Delhi etc, & he participated in International String Festival in Philippines (Manila) & worked with Dr Ramon Santos, the famous music composer of Philippines, with 400 hundred musicians, and he was also honoured with Mayor of Tagum, the city of Philippines in 2011. In March of 2011, he participated in the India week by Embassy of India in Algiers(Capital of Algeria) and was also honoured by Ambassador of India. He has worked with Miss Silvia of the USA, the western jazz musician, & composed music with her. Debasish continues to go with many stalwarts of Indian Classical music. He is a regular performer of All India Radio & T.V. of Delhi.
