D. Balakrishna is a prominent Veena performer, from the state of Karnataka. He is the son of legendary Veena performer Padmabhushan Dr V. Doreswamy Iyengar. From early childhood, he started training in Veena under the tutelage of his father. He has given several solo and duet performances with his father. He is the top grade artist of AIR and has given many programs for Doordarshan and All India Radio. Along with his father, he has accompanied to many concerts in Russia, US and Germany. He has earned many awards and titles. "Best Veena Player", "Ganakalshri", "Gana Kala Parishat" and "Asthana Vidwan", to name a few. D. Balakrishna specialises in practising Mysore Veena tradition, aka, "Mysore Baani". He is a passionate teacher grooming his disciples to perform AIR shows and concerts.
