Smt. Chippi Pillai began her Bharatanatyam training at the age of 3 under Smt. B. Chandralekha, at Veenadharini Nirtha Vidyalaya at Thiruvananthapuram and completed her arangrettam at age of 7. Later, she did advanced studies under Late. Padmashri Adyar K. Lakshman, Bharatha Choodamani, Chennai.. She is currently undergoing training with Smt. Nagamani Srinivasa Rao, Bharata Darshana, Bangalore. With her keen ability to understand and imbibe the nuances of this beautiful art form and with her perseverance and dedication, she has presented more than 100 performances till date. In 2009. she founded Kalyani Kala Kendra, which trains and moulds students keeping current trends in mind, while preserving the aesthetics and technical aspects of the art form.
