Bragha Bessell started her Bharatanatyam journey under Guru Late Sri Mangudi Durairaj Iyer. She took further training with the eminent Guru Sri. P. S. Kunchithapadam Pillai. She became a disciple of Adyar Sri. K. Lakshman and Smt. Kalanidhi Narayanan. Since her Arangetram in 1967 Bragha has given numerous recitals in India and overseas. Her dance performances have received international acclaim. Her workshops and lecture demonstrations are a regular feature in Asia, America, and Europe. Her original choreography of bharatanatyam and abhinaya earn wide appreciation from students, teachers and professional dancers. She has been invited by Kalakshetra to teach abhinaya classes for advanced students. She has given regular lecture- demonstrations in colleges and Universities all over the world.
