Arjun Kumar is one of the most talented and admired Mridangam performers of today. He is the son of legendary Mridangam musician Sri Arjunan. He started his initial training in Mridangam at the age of 5, by his father's guidance. Later, he trained under T.A.S Mani. At the age of 12, Arjun Kumar became a tutelage under the legend Padmavibhushan Sangeetha Kalanidhi Dr. Umayalpuram K. Sivaraman. Being a gifted child, he soon became the youngest "A" grade artist of All India Radio (AIR). He has performed along side great legends and musicians in many prestigious sabhas. Arjun Kumar is one of the lead disciple of his guru, performing the unique "Sivaraman Bani". Apart from Carnatic music concerts, he has collaborated with several Hindustani musicians. With them, he has performed several Jugalbhandi concerts all over the world. Arjun Kumar is not short of accolades, awards and achievements. "Mridanga Pungavaha", "Mridanga Yuva Jyothi", "Mridanga Vadya Chatura" are some of the titles he has earned in his tenure. He has training many upcoming musicians in India and abroad.
