Sri. Raman Kalyan is one of the leading flutists in the Carnatic style of music. He started learning flute under Vidwan A V Prakash at the age of 9. He performed his first concert at the age of 15 in Mysore. Raman has performed and collaborated with many well-known artists and musicians. both in India and abroad. He is a top ranking artist of All India Radio and Doordarshan. Raman has twice won the “Best Flautist Award” from Madras Music Academy for his concert. As a music educator, Sri Raman Kalyan has trained many performing arts students in India and the USA. He has conducted many workshops. He has pioneered and published new techniques of flute playing. His new teaching website, www.carnaticlessons.com, features over 600 learning videos. It has received global praise. Raman is the founder and president of Indo American Academy of Classical Music. This is an organization for preservation and propagation of Indian classical music.
