Born on 17-2-1968 in the family of musicians who were well known in the field of Sarangi hailing from Kirana Gharana. Dharwad being a place for maestro musicians even Faiyaz Khan was born on that fertile land. His grandfather Ustad Sheikh Abdulla Khan was the prestigious court musician of Mysore Maharaja and his father Ustad Abdul Khadar Khan was the famous Sarangi artist and staff artist in AIR Dharwad. Born in such lineage Faiyaz Khan was started his learning table under the able guidance of Pandit. Basavaraj Bendigeri at the tender age of 5. And continued his learning for almost 10 years. And also got his rhythm lessons from Ustad Mammulal Sangaonkar, Ustad Nizamuddin Khan and Pandit Samta Prasad. he was trained by his father in the field of Vocal and Sarangi. Which went hand in hand for several years. Being trained in different phases of music which lead him to a different level of understanding. In the year 1989-90, he received the 1st prize from AIR for sarangi (national level competition). Throughout his musical career of 30 years, he has performed on many prestigious platforms of India and abroad.
