Sri Rama Lalitha Kala Mandira was founded in the year 1955 by Late Sri G. Vedanta Iyengar, an educationist of high repute and a recipient of Public Service Medal from the then Maharajah of Mysore, His Holiness Sri Jayachamarajendra Wodeyar. After Sri Vedanta Iyengar's demise in 1962, his musician daughters Smt. G.V.Ranganayakamma and Smt. G.V. Neela pursued the ideal of their father towards propagating the fine arts of Carnatic Music.
