Shilpa Shashidhar is an engineer by qualification. She is the Winner of state-level competition held by Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan. She is a B-high graded artist in AIR. Shilpa Shashidhar comes from a simple joint family with high values and strict discipline. Her childhood was dedicated to music. She vouches on her gurus, Smt Meenakshi, who put a strong impression in her mind about the divinity and greatness of classical music and Dr. T.S.Sathyavathi, who is an icon of a musician and her greatest source of inspiration. She recollects how she grew up trying to earn a smile or a word of appreciation from her father, as she practised music. She Received scholarship from D.Subbaramaiah Fine Arts trust. She wrote a feature on Sri Kanakadasa for AIR program.
