Vidwan. S A Shashidhar is an eminent flautist from Karnataka, India. He has been an inspiring figure for many aspiring flautists. He has dedicated his life to exploring different flavours of music and also to, teach and inspire, ambitious flautists in their musical endeavour. He is from a family of musicians and music lovers from Bangalore. At the age of 13 inspired by his mother and maternal uncles, he started learning Carnatic Classical Music (flute) under Vid. Sri. M.R. Doreswamy. He has also received training under Padmashree Dr Ramani for some time. Sri. Shashidhar is a graded artist of Prasara Bharathi (All India Radio), Doordarshan (Television) and has been performing for the past 25 years. He has performed all over India, at several prestigious venues such as Bangalore Gayana Samaja and Karnataka Ganakala Parishat. He has performed at various venues in the US since 1988. In addition, he is an excellent teacher and has trained several upcoming flautists in Bangalore. Flute classes, as well as veena classes, are conducted in Anantha Krishna Sangeetha Vidyalaya, Bangalore in the vicinity of Banashankari, Jayanagar. Flute Classes are also conducted for Students Staying ABROAD. The Classes are usually taken on SKYPE. Vidwan S A Shashidhar hails from a family of musicians in Bengaluru, Karnataka. His inspiration to become a musician was due to the guidance from his mother and maternal uncles. At the age of 13, he started classical flute training from Vidwan Sri.M.R.Doreswamy and later under the tutelage of Padmashree Dr.Ramani. He is one of the graded artist of All India Radio and Doordarshan, and is performing for 25 years. He has performed all over India in various prestigious sabhas and United states. Recently, Bangalore Gayana Samaja awarded him as "Artist of the Year". He is an excellent teacher, founder of Anantha Krishna Sangeeta Vidyalaya and has trained several flautists in Bangalore. He is the Honourable Secretary of Banashankari Fine Arts Society, that promotes music and culture. His wife Smt Nagaratna Shashidhar, is a reputed veena player, his elder son Supradeep is an upcoming flautist and his other son Sughosh Pavan is an upcoming violinist. A unique feature being that all the family members have performed together on many occasions, in different sabhas.
