Vidhushi Smt. Rupa Sridhar is an eminent Carnatic Vocalist, from Bangalore. Her training in vocal started with the guidance of her mother Jayalakshmi Krishnaswami. She later pursued her advanced training under the tutelage of Sri Anoor Ramakrishna. She was also a disciple of T Puttaswamiah, Sri Bellary Sheshagiri Achar, Sri RK Ramanathan to name a few. Vid. Rupa's association with Dr.M.L. VasanthaKumari at Rishi Valley was a turning point in her life. She learnt the nuances and depth of music under her guru's direction. She also began to develop an interest in the world of Annamacharya, thanks to Smt.Malladi Jaisri. She has performed Annamacharya’s sankirthanas at several music festivals throughout South India. Vid. Rupa's keen interest to learn music knew no bounds. She learnt intricate details of music from Lalgudi Jayaraman and T.R.Subramaniam. Her contribution to the field of music has earned several awards and accolades. She earned the"Sangita Choodamani" title from Sri Nedunuri Krishnamurthy at Bangalore. Vid. Rupa's music concerts were well received throughout India and abroad. She has given several programs for Doordarshan and All India Radio (AIR). Many of her lectures and demonstrations in music were well received. She teaches Veena at Ayyanar College of Music, Bangalore. Vid. Rupa's " Ranjani Institute of Music" remains as an epitome in teaching. As a loveable guru, she encourages her students to learn and hone their musical skills.
