Prashanth Iyengar is a Classical Musician and Veena Exponent, in India. Prashanth Iyengar belongs to the direct musical lineage of the famed Saint composer Sri Tyagaraja. Born into the family of musicians, his prodigal talent showed up at the age of five. At the age of eight, he was proficient in playing extraordinary and complex notes with ease. His first and foremost tutor is his mother Smt.Padmasini Narasimhachar and under the guidance of Veena Virtuoso Vidwan Lion Sri. R. K. Suryanarayana, he became a professional. He has trained rigorously at the traditional rich Mysore Subbanna school of Veena. Mr.Iyengar constantly innovates patterns and nuances in his music, that has created a great fan following among the audience for his performances. Prashanth Iyengar holds the Limca national record for the rendition of a marathon veena concert spanning 24 hours at Srirangapatna Temple in the year 2011. He is the first composer from Karnataka to have composed Varnams in all the 72 Mekarta Ragas. He is the author of the book "Varna Lakshana Ranjani" and founder of "Sree Rama Centre of Performing Arts" for teaching aspirants, the art of Veena and Vocal renditions.
