Smt.Padma Shankar is a prominent Violinist, in the field of Carnatic music. Born and brought up in Mumbai, she learnt music from her mother Smt Lakshmi Narayanan. Her training in Violin was under the guidance of Sri. Ramakrishna Sarma of Mumbai. She later pursued her advanced lessons in Violin under the tutelage of Lalgudi. G .Jayaraman. She is one of the privileged musicians, to learn Vocal from the legend M. BalamuraliKrishna. Smt. Padma is an "A" grade artist in All India Radio and has done many concerts for AIR and Doordarshan. She has performed at many prestigious sabhas and music festivals in India and abroad. Her recitals alongside eminent musicians in fusion concerts were well received. Smt.Padma now holds the position of curriculum coordinator, at Shankar Mahadevan Academy.
