About

Quitting Government job, taking up music as a profession, being successful in it, achieving fame , doesn’t necessarily mean that Luck shines Music is all about hard work and not luck , to be successful in this field which is replete with competitiveness and criticism, one has to do sheer hard work clarifies Neyveli B.Venkatesh, the renowned mridangam artist. The turning point in his happened when he played mridangam for 28 hours continuously at Neyveli. If not a nmridangam player he would have definitely become an engineer says Venkatesh. In fact music has always played an important part in his life, his father Sri A.S.Balaraman was himself a mridangam player and happens to be Venkatesh’s first guru. He has been globe trotting for nearly eight months in a year and has no time to take up any classes for aspiring music students in Chennai. But to compensate this he does not let go off the opportunity to teach overseas students whenever he goes there. He doesn’t like online music teaching though he does not criticize those who use it. He feels that music is all about face to face, person to person teaching. Music can be grasped well only when taught in person.
