Dr. Lakshmi Basavaraju is the founder of this institution. Students learn the Bharatanatyam in its purest form and in the Margam system, in this School. They develop spatial skills, gross motor skills, memorization and retention skills. They develop courage and confidence. They also develop the stamina to dance for 1 ½ hour. Choreography skills develop. Style followed is kalakshetra . Students undergo intense training in Adavus(basics of Bharatanatyam) for two years. They follow the text ABHINAYADARPANA according to Akhilabharatiya Gandharva Mahavidyalaya exams. Students learn the Sanskrit slokas from the text. Students undergo training in Nattuvangam from the initial stages of learning. The students get trained in the basics of Carnatic music, which is a must for dance. The students understand the different taala( sapta talas), rhythm, Raagas, and Shruti. They undergo training to give the Akhilabharatiya Gandharva Mahavidyalaya exams – National level exams.
