Smt. Manorama Prasad, who grew up in Bangalore, set out to be an economist with a Master’s degree in the subject. Her family sent her to H V Venkatramaiah at the age of four to learn Carnatic music. Manorama emerged as the first ranker at both the Senior and Vidwat levels. She also got guidance from musicians such as S Ramanathan and S Krishnamurthy. It was only after she moved to the United Kingdom after marriage, she started taking music as a career. She had dedicated almost 25 years to music. Today, Manorama is not only a performer and teacher but a composer and organizer too.
