Kalatheera inaugurated on 6th August 2000, is a charitable trust. The Trust works for the propagation of Performing Arts. It dedicates itself to foster India's rich cultural heritage. They do this through its magnificent traditions in Classical Dance and Music. Guru Uday Kumar Shetty is an exponent in Classical Odissi dance. His wife Soumya Uday Kumar is a Kuchipudi and Odissi dancer. He and his wife set up Kalatheera after years of dedicated learning and respecting the art form. The couple commits to preserving the tradition and culture of Odissi Dance. They are working at spreading this art form in the southern part of India. This art form is otherwise very popular in north India.
