Janardhan started training under his grandfather Harikrishna Patro at the age of 7. He had later training with gurus, Vidwan M Srinivasa Rao and Vidwan M Vasudeva Rao. His first tour abroad was at the age 16 and has since toured worldwide. He is a graded artist for the All India Radio and performs on Radio and the national Doordarshan TV. He provides concert accompaniment to leading classical dancers, and in pure music concerts. He has many classical CD recordings to his credit. Natyatharanga organization honoured him with the Rashtreeya Kalaposhak Sanman award, and Kalamshu organization has conferred the Kalasri award for him.
