H N Kamala Murthy had passed Vidwat Examination. Karnataka Secondary Education Board conducted it in 2005. She got trained by Smt. R A Ramamani and Smt. Hemalatha Sampath Iyengar. She received the award ‘University Blue’. She got this in the Inter-collegiate Youth Festival Classical Music Competition. Late Dr. Smt. Gangubai Hangal gave the award. She was a Faculty in Carnatic Classical Vocal Music Institutes in Bangalore.
