Dr. Lakshmi is a disciple of Karnataka Kalasri, Guru Smt. Vasanthalakshmi at Vishruta School of Arts, from Bangalore. She had her initial training under Guru Smt. Subhadra Prabhu and the dancing duo of Sri. Kiran Subramanyam and Smt. Sandhya Kiran. Lakshmi had procured doctorate by the University of Bangalore. She wrote a thesis on Dance and Sanskrit. Lakshmi indulges in classical vocals, having given several acclaimed concerts. She is also currently conducting Ph.D. research in the ancient language, Sanskrit. Aiming to teach and promote Indian art and music, she has founded The Centre for Divine Arts in Bangalore.
