Dr. Hamsini Nagendra is born in a family of musicians and was a child prodigy. Her grandfather introduced her to the world of music, and her parents guided her to pursue her skills . Her training started with notable violinist Vidwan R.R.Keshavamurthy and renowned vocalist Vidushi T.S.Satyavathi. She enhanced her skills by training under Padma Bhushan Sangeetha Kalanidhi Madurai T.N.Seshagopalan. Her performance started from the age of 12 .She completed her graduation , masters degree , research in Carnatic music that earned a Ph.D degree.She has performed concerts all over the country in many prestigious sabhas and won many titles and awards from them. She rose to fame by winning the "Best Artist Award"from Karnataka Ganakala Parishat and "The Best Female Artist" award from Indian Fine Arts Society.She has performed in "The National Program of Music" of All India Radio and Doordarshan. As an "A" Grade artist in AIR , she has directed and performed in various thematic productions and teaching sessions. She has released her music albums and was a part of music albums produced by other reputed music companies. Dr.Hamsini now learns Mridangam under the guidance of Vidwan H.S.Sudheendra, to feel the importance of music to the vocal. For her contribution to carnatic music, she has received awards like "Ganakalashree" from Karnataka Ganakala Parishat,"Ananya Yuva Puraskara" and "Best Achiever" from Karnataka Sangeetha Nruthya Academy. She is the author of "Rare Melodies of Karnatak Music" and has edited a book titled "Ugabhoga Darpana". Her demonstrations in music conferences have helped learners to enhance their knowledge and understanding of music. She has contributed many articles and research papers in national and international journals. She is a professor of music in Bangalore university and was a board member for conducting examinations. With her meticulous teaching, she has guided and trained many aspiring musicians.
