Dr. Geetha R Bhat is an accomplished Veena performer and a music therapist. She started her Veena training from the age of 5 under the tutelage of Guru Sangeetha Bhooshanam Smt. B. Gnanambal. She earned her Vidushi title by the guidance of her gurus Vidwan Shri R. K Srinivasamurthy and Kalashri Smt. E. P. Alamelu. She trained for Carnatic Vocal too, under the guru R.R Keshavamurthyon Dikshitar. Geetha has given several lectures on demonstrations in music, across the world. She has been a part of child development programmes "Vanitha Vihar", in AIR. Her contributions to the music are well received and earned her several awards and titles. Apart from a Veena performer, Geetha has researched on the effect of music on a human mind. At the age of 29, she earned her Doctorate for publishing "Neuro-Musicology and the Therapeutic powers of sound and classical music". Her research in "Neuro-Musicology” has demonstrated that music gives positive effects to special children. Dr.Geetha is the founder of "Hamsakurita Foundation", teaching Vocal and Veena. The school specializes in teaching music for kids with Autism, ADHD, Aspergers syndromes. They motivate such kids to perform at prestigious platforms, developing them in a positive way.
