Srivathsa had the privilege of learning dance from B. Bhanumathi for five years. Vidwan D.S.Srivathsa also has been one of the few known for his contribution in the field of Carnatic music. The Government of Karnataka honored him with the prestigious Karnataka Kalashree award. Vidwan D.S.Srivathsa had traveled all over India. He also traveled to Australia, New Zealand, United States, Canada, Europe. He also traveled to Singapore and Middle East countries. He has performed worldwide as a Vocal artiste. He has sung for leading and emerging Bharatanatyam dancers. He is also a dance-choreographer, composer, and a music teacher. ARYA BHATTA Cultural Association conferred him with the Arya Bhatta awards. He received this award for his outstanding contribution towards Classical Music. He received "Isai Thendral" award in 2004.
