N.L.Cheluvaraj is a prominent Carnatic Vocalist. He has trained under the guidance of Chintalapalli Venkata- Rao T. Chowdaiah. He actively gave concerts for 35 years throughout South India. In his tenure , he taught the students at Ayyanaar College of Music, Bengaluru for five years. He has taken part in fine tuning many Carnatic Ragas and Kannada songs.In recognition of his services, Sri Dharmastala Dharmadhikari Sri Sri D. Veerendra Hegde awarded the title 'Ganarathna' on him in 1979. In connection with the Birth Centenary of Chowdaiah, N. L. Cheluvaraj was also felicitated by the Percussive Arts Centre. In the year 2000, he received "Artist of the Year" award by Bangalore Gayana Samaja.
