The Academy aims to promote Indian Classical Music and Dance. The academy is one of the prime organiszations in Bangalore's cultural scene. The Academy has been organizing monthly music concerts by leading and upcoming artists. Earlier it started with one concert a month. It is now organizing Twenty-five concerts a year. These also include a few Classical Dance programmes and Hindustani Music. It also organizes the Aradhana mahotsava sapthaha in January every year. The Academy organizes Jugalbandhis, Vocal and Instrumental duets and ensembles. The Academy also co-host programmes along with many other Cultural organizations. Programmes include Music therapy and Felicitation to great artists. It also includes Yuva sangeethothsava. The Academy has at present about 350 annual members and more than 250 life members. They support the activities of the Academy.
