B S Prashanth is a well known upcoming Mridangam performer. He started learning the instrument from the age of 3, under the tutelage of K N Krishnamurthy. He pursued advanced training in Mridangam from Vidwan Patri Satish Kumar. He is also well versed in Kanjira, learnt from C.P. Vyasa Vittala. He is one of the most sought-after percussionists, because of his knowledge and style. Prashanth is an "A" grade artist in All India Radio and has given many concerts for AIR and Doordarshan. He has bagged prizes at many prestigious music competitions outperforming his seniors. His recitals alongside eminent musicians at prestigious sabhas throughout India were well received. He is the recipient of many reputable awards like "Nadajyothi Kala Pratibha Puraskara", for his contribution to music.
